Stichting Geschillenoplossing Automatisering

Information and communication technology (ICT) projects are typically of long duration, involve a high degree of complexity and require substantial investment in human and other resources. Partly because of this, many ICT projects encounter problems, whether minor or more serious. A significant proportion result from specification issues. Other factors are organizational problems, a lack of proper internal cooperation and social problems.

Mediation, arbitration and other forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) are ideal options for the resolution of ICT conflicts.

In 1989, SGOA was created with the aim of providing short-term, independent, expert services in the field of dispute resolution. SGOA stands for the Stichting Geschillenoplossing Automatisering, or ‘foundation for the resolution of ICT disputes’. SGOA offers mediation, arbitration, summary arbitral proceedings, binding third-party rulings, expert reports and ICT conflict prevention (all forms of ADR), making it an appealing alternative to the usual legal proceedings. It is also possible to combine these different forms of ADR; in this way SGOA is able to tailor its services to suit the requirements of each individual dispute.
